What this workshop is about: Cotton is indigenous to India, with a long history dating from the Indus Valley. This workshop introduces you to India's cotton heritage, its role in the struggle for independence, and the challenges faced by cotton cultivators, spinners and weavers today. It provides an insight into sustainable farming, and sustainable textile production.
You can also try your hand at weaving natural-dyed cotton on a lap loom. Under the guidance of a trained weaver, you can spend 2-3 hours in a focused, creative and meditative process. Weaving is an ancient art, and a cornerstone of human civilization. It helps connect us to our traditional knowledge systems, and to nature. No prior weaving knowledge is needed.
This experience could be a great waypoint in a journey of conscious fashion, to support a gentler, more planet-friendly way of life.
